It's the fact that it isn't history that is worrying. Most of these people are still out there and still trying to get hold of the reins of power.
And the Dems seem so limp when it comes to doing something about it.
Trump tried to overthrow the election result. It was only because SCOTUS and the military refused to support him that the US has a democracy. EVERY other institution failed.
They were clearly modelling things on Hitler's Reichstag fire, just like Milley said. Fortunately, his mob didn't realise they were meant to torch the Capitol, with Pence, Pelosi and McConnell in it. Then Trump would have invoked the Insurrection Act and... goodbye democracy.
It was closer than I realised. I couldn't figure that burning the building was the plan until now.
