Thumbs Up Thumbs Up That is true sire. Great point.. Also good way to get around it. Iffen a store installer or plumber install yer washer then they will leve that Backflow preventer on. But the homeowner on the other hand is free to do what you did, until ya get caught.

...there is some kind of contraption in new washing machines and other appliances from allowing water from the machine to be sucked back into the public water supply if there is a drop in outside water pressure that is lower than the inside water pressure. I had a similar problem with my machine and after a 2 second analysis of the part and it's design I determined that it was a POS and wouldn't do anyhting but leak soapy water all over the place. Replaced it with a clear piece of hose and have had no problems since. The device is called a Backflow protection device. It is on all machines even if ya on well water.
