Re: “...only 5 inch heighton the rise of the steps.”
Good thinking!

While I'll have standard wood (TREX) steps leading to my front porch, I also have a small, long hill from my driveway to where those steps will be. When it comes time to build the path for it, I'll make sure that each time it levels up, the jump is small.

The barn's 2nd floor also needs stairs outside since the door is about 3' off the ground. I've already told the builder to make it a ramp. I wasn't thinking about a wheelchair so much as a fridge... or anything else I might want to put in the barn with a dolly. Today, it's just got a couple of temporary 2x12s that make you nervous any time you traverse them. They're treacherous in the winter.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

Today the Masons came and framed up the new rear of the house stoop and steps to the patio and also the front sidewalk and three tired 6 foot wide front steps to the entrance. I had those redone because I wanted only 5 inch heighton the rise of the steps. They are 30 inches deep each.

Why that big? Because as we get older we sometimes will need an assist in walking so a walker or a rollator may be in order. Maybe later a wheelchair. Who knows.. I just want large enough and smaller height differences in the steps leading to the front door system. None of us is getting any younger so planning time is now..

I am enjoying watching the masons use the various trowels and work the 4000# mix concrete. Yep, its 4,000 #. That's what I had before and what they are replacing with.. It will last a very long time and is very hard.

SO I am trapped in my house because both entrances have fresh concrete poured.. I hope they put up some planks to walk in and out with. The rear entrance lends itself to that.

SO, another project completed. I have to decide if I want to do the last one or not or go a different route.

Will have to see and think on it... For now, its looking pretty good.
