This is a catching video at the last away tournament of this season for my grand daughter who will be a senior in high school this school year. She has committed to play college D2 ball at a Christian University , Cedarville, where other family members like my sis in law and many other neices and great neices and nephews have attended.
The head coach wanted her when she was a sophomore and has given her the top athletic scholarship he has available, more than even the pitchers. She had a heck of a last tornament throwing out would be base stealers and hitting over .400 for the tournament as well. As you can see by the video, nothing gets by her and she pegs second base from a squatting position and does not need to stand. She has a cannon for an arm. Grandpa helped her with that and some catching techniques early on because I also was a catcher and third baseman. She plays third also..
She has moved up now to the top travel team of this organization which is located in Columbus. They want her badly for her senior year. They even conceded to practicing locally here so she would not have to run the 100 miles to Columbus. That kind of astounded me..
Hope you like the video my daughter sent me.. This was in Illinois last week.. They made the finals. This team's pitching is shallow so the pitchers ran out of steam.. They need more quality pitchers whichis one reason which led to her leaving this team and moving up to the Columbus team who recruited her heavily.
My grandson is at College right now in his dorm room prepping for pre training camp football. He is on athletic scholarship as well and I was told there are 100 kids there who want to be a linebacker. the coach will keep TEN. Obviously my grandson will be one of the ten as he has a signifant scholarship to play ball for them at linebacker. He was ALL City his senior year and lead the city in tackles. A tough young man who is very quiet and unassuming. You would not know he could lay out most people with one arm talking with him. Ya can tell grandma raised him for most of his elementary school years.. She instilled some excellent values into him and he is a very polite, courteous young man. He also was a wrestler for three years.. He is RIPPED muscle wise. Strong as an ox only does not smell like one..
Hope he sees a little action on the field this year even if only on special teams.. Its rare for a freshman to play much... So we will see.
Enjoy the video... I did..
