Realist - Everybody in America is soft, and hates conflict. The cure for this, both in politics and social life, is the same -- hardihood. Give them raw truth.

Mine is reserved for people who have banned me from their boards.

In all seriousness, clo is looking at 12 hours or so of 80 to 90 mile-per-hour sustained winds. She's not at much risk of flooding, being on a fairly flat stretch of road and having the good fortune to be on the high side of it. I'll be surprised though if the roof remains intact. It's not in the best of shape. We'll know more on Monday. Well, you might. There's a good chance that both she and I will lose power.

Trees in this part of the country are heavy with leaves, and the soil is soggy from a record wet July. That's the formula for dropping a whole lotta power lines.

Connecticut's Eversource Power is telling its customers to prepare for power outages of up to 10 days. Yikes. I've been through one of those. It wasn't fun.
