BREAKING: House votes to advance Biden's infrastructure and jobs plans, breaking logjam
The House took a key procedural vote on Tuesday, voting 220 to 212 to approve a motion that will allow work to begin on crafting a $3.5 trillion social safety net spending bill and ensure a vote by Sept. 27 on the $550 billion infrastructure bill. Democrats had jockeyed over the timing of passing the two key pieces of President Joe Biden’s agenda, ultimately agreeing to work toward passing both before October.
Every Democrat voted for the measure, and all Republicans opposed it.
