We won’t name him because he deleted his tweet and sincerely apologized, but someone asked Joey Jones the other day if “he’d be willing to go and fight” in Afghanistan after Jones reacted to the suicide bombing that killed 13 U.S. service members. Obviously, Jones did go and fight in Afghanistan and lost his legs to an IED.

Jones must have been watching today when CENTCOM Gen. Kenneth McKenzie officially declared the end of U.S. military operations in Afghanistan. They weren’t able to get out every American who wanted to get out, estimating there were “hundreds,” but he did say the Taliban was “helpful” as well as pragmatic and businesslike.

Sasha Ingber ~ McKenzie says the Taliban have been very "pragmatic and businesslike" during the withdrawal. Adds that the TB "established a firm perimeter outside of the airfield to prevent people from coming on the airfield during departure" -- they were “helpful.”

Philip Melanchthon Wegmann ~ Gen. McKenzie says of the Taliban, "I do know this just speaking clearly practically as a professional, they helped us secure the airfield, not perfectly, but they gave it a very good effort, and it was actually significantly helpful to us, particularly here at the end."

Steve Herman ~ #Taliban effort to secure #HIKA was "significantly helpful, especially at the end," says Gen. McKenzie.

{Cont.} "We will work with the Taliban" and next government of #Afghanistan to ensure US citizens remaining there are protected and can leave if they want, says Gen. McKenzie.

Disclose.tv ~ The top U.S. general also praised the Taliban for their "very good efforts" in guarding the #Kabul airport.

JB ~ Will we make them breakfast tomorrow morning too?

Investor ~ Imagine being the family of the fallen soldier hearing this crap, OMG heartbreak.

Chalk up Jones among those not celebrating as the last American planes take off from the airport in Kabul.

Joey Jones ~ If you want to know what betrayal is? Have a man who commanded you to die/lose limbs fighting the Taliban address the world speaking glowingly about the Taliban.

Finest_of_the_Wheat ~ God Bless You Joey. Thank you for your service! I am feeling your pain. My son did one tour in Afghanistan and fortunately came home in one piece. Shame on many of these generals who have proven unworthy of your sacrifice.

Michael P Pregent ~ McKenzie disgraced himself today.

Generals become unrecognizable when they put their careers ahead of principle.

Kirk Wilson ~ The casual nature in which the Pentagon talks about leaving people behind is infuriating and disgusting. “Oh well” is the attitude.

finally light at the end of the tunnel! ~ It’s such a travesty that we have so many good, decent, honorable men & women on the ground, but the assholes who “lead” them are such hot garbage.

Blake Clark ~ We’re so grateful for your service, we’ll never forget what you and all the troops have done for us. Don’t let this man and this administration take away what you did for our country. We appreciate you and will never forget. God bless you and all who served.

Clay Staggs ~ I am so, so sorry that you and all those who have served are being treated this way. I cannot imagine the way you all must feel. Our leaders are a disgrace to the entire nation. Please know that you have the deep deep gratitude of all us normals. Blessings to all of you.
