I do not see 'cut' steel. I do see broken steel. And I see discolored steel - like that section of steel got very hot.
The discoloration on the top of that bar suggests to me that that is where the jet fuel got to it . . . Heated it up to the point that it lost much of its structural integrity . . . then broke. Once the top section broke, the middle started coming apart and the bottom simply snapped.
But my money as to why it failed is because of the discoloration of the top.
Not to mention that once one has a megaton or so of building collapsing beams are going to snap off in all sorts of 'interesting' ways.

P.S. That piece is at your fire station? That leaves open the possibility that it might have been cut post-9-11 to make it small enough for transport and display.

I read back then they used directional explosives, that burn WAY hot, in ONE direction and spot only. Nice angle to this cut/blast. You can see the steel melted at that exact spot nowhere else. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
