Thank you De.
I had no idea her health problems were that bad.

Re: “Any idea what she died of?”
They didn't perform an autopsy, so there's no definitive cause of death. As Beldin said, Kathy had some serious medical problems.

Kathy leaves three brothers and a sister. The three brothers all have chronic arrhythmia and two have pacemakers. Kathy had severe arrhythmia as well, but no pacemaker. Instead, she was taking double the dose of metoprolol that I was - and it was messing me up. If her heart rate fell too low, her blood pressure would drop and she could lose consciousness. If the arrhythmia got out of hand, it could make her throw a clot. I just think it's a shame they didn't put a pacemaker in.

Kathy experienced a lengthy bout of arrhythmia before ever seeing a doctor about it, and consequently she knew what arrhythmia felt like. Since she didn't report a recurrence of that feeling, I don't think it's why she died. But the metoprolol could have done it.

From December to March, Kathy fell 3 times, once hitting her head while outside and nearly dying from blood loss. An MRI found a tumor above the ear. It was small and I don't think a followup was done. (Sidebar: When a small tumor in my mother's brain was found, the doctor told us that they are common in the elderly and the usual course of action is to do nothing but watch to see if it grows or symptoms worsen. Of course, my Mom hadn't been falling. Kathy was falling and I think ignoring the tumor was wrong.)

She had diverticulitis. She had kidney stones. She had leg and knee problems. There were other non-terminal problems.

That's all I have.

As Beldin said, you might want to reach out to her siblings: Mary (nee Wussler), Bill, Timmy and Jimmy Wussler. She was closest to Jimmy. Or you could wait. A real obit that identifies the suspected cause of death may be published. I'll keep an eye out.
