Re: “The Zoo is a must see attraction.”
San Diego isn't new to me. In fact, it came close to being "my home town." When I was a kid, my Dad retired from thee Air Force and we moved to Utah for a year, then to California. We had a 16' trailer, so we stayed in it for two weeks while my father looked into the San Diego job market. I guess he wasn't wowed because we headed North to Sacramento where I lived for much of my life.

I don't know why they settled on Sacramento, but I think the fact that it had two Air Force bases (Mather and McClellan) and an Army depot played a part. They didn't ever want to lose the medical and commissary privileges. Ironically, all of the bases in Sacramento closed in the 1980s or 90s. San Diego has at least one Naval base to this day.

Moving to Sacramento was a big mistake. San Diego was far nicer even then, and home prices were only a little higher.

But I'm straying. I've been to the San Diego zoo three times, staying until it closed each time. I agree it's fantastic - for a zoo, but zoos have never really interested me all that much. The harbor cruise sounds like a great idea. I'll see if the wife is interested. (She probably won't be. She gets seasick and the motion affects her aim.)

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months
