Agreed. He should (and probably does) understand that he just wasn't what this group wanted. That is no reflection on him.

If a great actor auditions for a role and is rejected, it might have nothing to do with his abilities. It could just be that the director is looking for somebody taller, or who fits better with his lead actress. Rejection comes to us all, eventually.

Then again, I'm still a little bitter about the time I applied for and didn't get a job but was later told by one of the decision-making board that my interview had caused an unexpected hour of debate since the job was meant to be an "automatic" - a job created for a minority woman. That was MY first significant exposure to reverse racism and it sucked. As a fairly savvy person who only wants a future in which people are judged for who they are, not what they are, I know that a dark time is approaching.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

That's discouraging for him to be sure. It wil not be the last time in his life he will be rejected for something..

Its part of the growth process. As a grad student he will when he completes his studies be very much busy and can choose the things that interest him in his field of choice.

For me, being happy at what one does for a living is most important and makes the work not seem like work.. Amazing how quickly decades pass by.

He is talented and gifted in several areas and he will keep those things for his lifetime. I still play my Sax and clarinet occasionally before I enjoy them both and love music. He is experiencing maybe "rejection" and it is new to him perhaps? Growing cycle...
