We aren't returning to New Hampshire just yet, but the hard part of our drive is done.

We were tempted to stop yesterday in KC for barbecue at Arthur Bryant's (widely regarded as the best BBQ in the United States) but didn't because I didn't know where to SAFELY park the car (the restaurant is in a black slum) and didn't want to mess with our schedule.

I thought of you, micro, as we crossed IN and KY and listened to 55-KRC (Glenn Beck, Joe Pags and Ben Shapiro. At least I think those are the guys we listened to on that station.)

Aside from our home state, my favorite from this trip was Kentucky. The bottom 4, from best to worst, are New Mexico, Nevada, New York and California. No offense intended to anyone; those are just four 4 states where life in prison would be a considerable improvement, unless, of course, it's life in prison IN ONE OF THOSE FOUR STATES.

I'll get around to posting some of the photos before long. Lots of great memories. No pictures tonight, though. Too tired!

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

We crossed the Rockies last night and stayed in a rest area just inside Wyoming. Overnight temps fell to 28°. Brrr. I woke before sunrise, defrosted all the ice accumulated on the windshield and continued the trip. Crossed the Continental Divide twice - once at 6,300 feet; once at 7,000 feet, the whole time going east on I-80. Pretty weird, eh? Someone explain to me how they even decide where the Continental Divide lies. I'm stumped.

We're in a hotel tonight, staying in a little town not far from Lexington Nebraska. Much more comfortable.

The return is going smoothly. We spent too much time in Reno trying to find a casino buffet. Nearly all the buffets have closed. The one we found was at the Atlantis, well off the Reno strip. It was a champagne brunch... $45. We declined. If I'm going to spend that kind of money on a champagne brunch, I'm going to see to it that I'm in no condition to drive for at least a couple of days.

Got to the hotel tonight and seem to have lost my prescription reading glasses. That's not such a bad thing. My wife lent me her cheap over-the-counter glasses (+2.25) and I find myself seeing better than I ever did with the other set. A silver lining!

G'night, guys. I'm going to read the posts I've missed and probably not post a whole lot. I feel like crashing early tonight.
