Sis/Bro-Inlaw & their grown kids are there since Thursday, staying outside the Park but tripping in daily to catch up on favorite trails.. Glacier Point is still closed off, as far as the road, but ambitious folks could hike the 4 miles UP to the point, a 8+ mile round trip, nobody, well, maybe the younger couples could, but most of us are suffering from lack of regular walks, etc...
We went took all of our daughter (2) & grandkids (3), plus partners, so about 9 of us last May... No services like buses, so drive everywhere, Glacier was closed. We rented 4 cabins in Camp Curry, then the challenge was to gather for meals, off to the Lodge, or whatever was open, short hours, short staff, but we managed, even a dinner in the Ahwahnee Hotel... A favorite place for us, our daughter, a good getaway while she was still able to walk... Great views, great memories of years past when we'd try to get in a couple times a year, a tough challenge today, demand is so great, even during those early Covid days...
We saw, not the above water-firefall back in the early '60s. when the literally pushed embers off of Glacier... Sadly no pics from that trip with another couple, we slept in the car, made the most of the time we had, but returned many times...
A magical place, even with crowds, off on the trails it thins out, and you'll hear every language of the world, a destination for everyone, but slowed by covid... Awesome....
