Re: “Good to see you up and about. Are you guys rested up from your long exhausiting but quite interesting journey and adventure?”
Three hours seems to be my limit for sleep. Then I'm up for a few and, if I'm lucky, I can get to sleep again for another three. I've had my circulation checked since it's part of the problem (I sleep better if I'm at an incline with my chest higher than my feet) but so far there's been no diagnosis. My cardiologist said that the heart failure I began developing when the valve went south MAY have done some permanent damage. Oh well. It doesn't seem to be worsening... and 3 hours at a stretch ain't so bad.

But on to your question. Life is gradually getting back to normal. We brought quite a few boxes home with us (a small U-haul full of 'em) and a dozen or so have to be unpacked and dealt with here at home. Cans of food, for instance, can't just be hauled up to the barn in a box and left there. We might not get around to opening some of the things in the barn for years. The problem is that our little house is so crowded already that neither of us is excited about opening still more and figuring out where things can go.

I spent a good part of yesterday tearing down the garden and prepping for winter. It's more time consuming than you'd think - in 3 hours I only got it half done. At the outset, it began to snow - the first snow of the year. Yep, it's that time again. It didn't amount to more than a flake here and there (pellets, actually, like tiny snowballs) but it's still snow.

In the coming days, I need to spray the garden to kill moss (diluted dish soap kills it, or so I hear. 4 ounces of dish soap to 2 gallons of water), tarp over the two garden plots, tarp the trailer, finish putting away Charlottesville things, haul more to the barn, paint the stairwell walls (but only if we get a warm day), harvest seeds, have a bonfire to get rid of accumulated branches, fill the compost pile with leaves, clean out a garage, put away the tractor and . . . yep, it's getting back to normal.

Thanks for asking, I think!

And how are you?

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months
