So exciting? What's so exciting about another drug being rushed onto the market to further line the pockets of one of the world's biggest corporations? You used to be against corporations that did that, remember?

Honestly, I don't think your cognitive ability is much beyond that of a chimpanzee. You're old enough that there is no excuse for not remembering:

• Thalidomide, for morning sickness, but which caused horrible deformities in the babies,
• Fen-Phen, for weight loss, but which caused heart valve abnormalities,
• Vioxx, for arthritis, but which caused heart attacks and killed thousands

It's not uncommon.
One-third of new drugs approved by the FDA from 2001 to 2010 had unexpected side effects that later forced their withdrawal or issuance of a strong warning - and those were drugs that were properly tested over many years, not rushed into production under an Emergency Use Authorization. On average, it took more than 4 years for the effects to come to light.

I will say this in defense of Molnupiravir: It is not a new class of drug. It's not like the J&J, Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. It is, therefore, far less likely to have horrible side effects. But the practice of waiving long-term testing of new drugs is a really bad idea. The likelihood that tens of millions of Americans begin coming down with terrible new diseases in the next five years is high.

You're vaccinated. Please keep us informed about your upcoming autoimmune diseases, cancers, heart problems and strokes, will ya? Now THOSE are things that will deserve to be called "so exciting!"

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months
