Re: “Exciting day... Thumbs Up Very Happy
Very exciting! With her academic scholarship, it's a screaming deal. $10k per year is a lot less than we paid and our son was at a public university. Cedarville is a Christian college, and those are generally more expensive not less. I have no doubt she'll get an excellent education - hopefully leading to a lucrative career she'll enjoy. Does she have any thoughts yet on what she wants to pursue? Most kids don't at the start - or if they do, it's not what they end up with.

If you have the chance, remind your granddaughter that it's important to keep her nose to the grindstone and graduate in 4 years or less. At many colleges, close to half of the students don't stick to the timeline. An extra year or two will add a bundle to what her parents wind up paying.

If her goal is to get a Masters or Ph.D., she should think about that early on. I believe that what made Joey attractive to colleges was that he TA'ed multiple courses for several professors and also worked with one on a special project. Colleges love that. Your granddaughter has time to think about that, but it's important she knows early on how grad school admissions work. It's not just about the GPA.

Well done, Grandpa! You, your wife and your kids did a great job raising this young lady! Follow her collegiate experiences closely and I'm sure you'll have a lot to be proud of in the coming years. Keep us informed, okay?

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

My wife and I will be attending our granddaughter's formal signing of her letter of intent to play Women's Softball for Cedarville University at the High School Multi Purpose room. Her friend and next door neighbor will also be signing to play soccer for a university that is giving her athletic scholarship money to play also.

My granddaughter is receiving 15 grand in athletic scholarship yearly tp play for this wonderful and steadily growing University where my wife's sister worked for 30 years. It is about one hour drive from our house and my daughters. This was a real answer to prayer we all were asking for..

Its a good scholarship at a smaller university and is the highest amount of money they can give to a player on the softball team, even more than the pitchers.
The coach is also a local area Pastor of a Church and he and I get along great.. She should get a great education there and between the athletic scholarship and the academic scholarships she should have less than 10 grand a year to pay for and her parents will cover that.

So its a wonderful day for us here and we are so very proud of her. She is a shy girl and loves her grandma. My wife raised them for basically six years here at our house as my daughter and sonny boy went to work. We baby sat them, taught them to read, and got them to school when they came of age to go to Kindergarten all the way through elementary school.. So we are very close to our grandkids.

I am so excited for her because she is shy and yet she is one of the highest rated catchers in our state in girls travel Team elite softball. She was recruited be several schools and D-1 schools but wanted to go to a smaller more personal college and her aunt lives very close to campus where she worked so there is familar face. Her cousin just went to school there this year also.

Exciting day... Thumbs Up Very Happy
