Thanks De!

Camryn wants to be a Teacher. I think she is leaning that way because BOTH her parents are teachers and her mom posseses a doctorate and her dad is Masters plus 80 in computer science.

The grandson also is leaning to being a High School History teacher at this moment in time. I on the other hand am trying to open his eyes to all the opportunities in the fields of engineering and all the cool things ya get to play with and learn about as you go thru life.

At least I liked it.. Both my daughters are smarter than me. Not in IQ but in their advanced degrees. I have more but not a doctorate. Oh well. PHD stands for Piled Higher and Deeper so I don;t really care.

I wanted my girls to be able to support themselves and tell any wife abusing SOB in their lives to go pound salt and get out and be able to take care of themselves financially and career wise. They both are more than capable of that so I did succeed in preparing them for life's stark realities.

Camryn is a quiet and caring person. She is not a be in the light person. But she can really play girls fast pitch softball. Her and her brother are sports driven and have skillsets to match. Her brother came up from his college this morning to watch the signing ceremony.

This will be scrolling across the bottom of ESPN sometime as well as the local t.v. station. So that's really cool.

It's kinda neat being a grandparent. All the benefits of enjoying the kids and having fun without the responsibilities. Just watching over them from a short distance..
Appreciate your kind remarks.. Thanks!

Re: “Exciting day... Thumbs Up Very Happy
Very exciting! With her academic scholarship, it's a screaming deal. $10k per year is a lot less than we paid and our son was at a public university. Cedarville is a Christian college, and those are generally more expensive not less. I have no doubt she'll get an excellent education - hopefully leading to a lucrative career she'll enjoy. Does she have any thoughts yet on what she wants to pursue? Most kids don't at the start - or if they do, it's not what they end up with.

If you have the chance, remind your granddaughter that it's important to keep her nose to the grindstone and graduate in 4 years or less. At many colleges, close to half of the students don't stick to the timeline. An extra year or two will add a bundle to what her parents wind up paying.

If her goal is to get a Masters or Ph.D., she should think about that early on. I believe that what made Joey attractive to colleges was that he TA'ed multiple courses for several professors and also worked with one on a special project. Colleges love that. Your granddaughter has time to think about that, but it's important she knows early on how grad school admissions work. It's not just about the GPA.

Well done, Grandpa! You, your wife and your kids did a great job raising this young lady! Follow her collegiate experiences closely and I'm sure you'll have a lot to be proud of in the coming years. Keep us informed, okay?
