The judge that the indictment has been assigned to is a Trump appointee, however, from looking at his record, Trump and his minions probably shouldn't be holding their breath thinking that he'll dismiss the case or drag it out until this all blows over. It appears that this judge has been involved in a couple of cases where either the Trump administration or people associated with Trump and his post-election activities were involved, and so far, his rulings have not been what I suspect that Trump would be happy with:

Federal grand jury indicts former Trump adviser Steve Bannon for contempt of Congress

http://www.cnn.com/2021/11/12/politics/steve-bannon-indicted/index.html

A copy of the indictment:

http://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/stephen-k-bannon-indicted-contempt-congress

An excerpt from the indictment:

“Since my first day in office, I have promised Justice Department employees that together we would show the American people by word and deed that the department adheres to the rule of law, follows the facts and the law and pursues equal justice under the law,” said Attorney General Merrick B. Garland. “Today’s charges reflect the department’s steadfast commitment to these principles.”

That should put to rest the complaints that the AG and the DOJ were not doing their jobs.
