Re: “From the FRED Blog: A Thanksgiving dinner serving of poultry costs $1.42. A soybean-based dinner serving with the same amount of calories costs 66 cents and provides almost twice as much protein.”
Maybe they mean in a restaurant. Otherwise, I don't know how they're calculating this.

In my area, the lowest priced Turkeys are $.39 per pound, provided one also spends $25 on other groceries. A few years ago, I finally plunked down the big bucks and bought a discounted Butterball turkey after Thanksgiving. We cooked it for Christmas and wow, was it ever good. I'm one of those people who isn't normally a fan of turkey, but Butterball turkeys are a game changer. Try one if you never have.

This year, we bought two at $.99 per pound. That's still well below the Federal Reserve Bank's figure. A Butterball + stuffing? Electricity for the oven? That $1.42 isn't adding up unless they think the average serving is in excess of two pounds.

BTW, at my local Hannaford supermarket, a 2.5 lb Tofurky Roast & Gravy costs $11.99. That's $4.80/lb... waaay more than a Turkey.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

Biden and the Democrats claim that spending another two or three trillion dollars on the “Build Back Better” bill (after having dropped $1.2 trillion on the infrastructure bill) would help bring curb rising inflation that has hit consumers hard. Does anybody actually believe that?

Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis seems to know that times are getting tougher, and here’s their suggestion for how to make your Thanksgiving cheaper and healthier:

St. Louis Fed ~ From the FRED Blog: A Thanksgiving dinner serving of poultry costs $1.42. A soybean-based dinner serving with the same amount of calories costs 66 cents and provides almost twice as much protein.

EXCUSE ME???!!! Someone at the St. Louis Federal Reserve thought THIS was an appropriate tweet?!

Really? We’ve gone from “Biden saved you 16 cents on your July 4th barbecue” to “here’s why tofurkey is a great option in these financially trying times.”

Lyndsey Fifield ~ Y’all really tweeted this. This is an actual tweet.

Andy Lancaster ~ I'm just glad they didn't do bugs.

Maybe that’ll be their meal recommendation for Christmas.

J.D. Vance ~ And for Christmas you can have earth worms and cockroaches.

If Biden and the Dems are given much more time in control of things the Fed will be tweeting directions to local soup kitchens for holiday meals.

Mama Cole ~ Do these people literally think we want a soybean dinner instead of a turkey? Wow … good try. Barf!

SocialClaude ~ In other news, the Fed is filling in for the @TheBabylonBee ... 🤦 http://t.co/HJCKsjdwvU

Tim Wood ~ Imagine a world where the most powerful people in US monetary policy are tweeting this crap on Thanksgiving week.

Welp, you don’t have to imagine.

Sven Henrich ~ Let them eat soybeans.

Cynthia Lummis ~ Quantitative easing and soy for Thanksgiving. Let’s save America from these people.

AUSTIN FRISCH ~ This is not satire. WTF.

J.T. Palladino ~ Record-setting hyper inflation and the fed is worried about calories.

Priorities!
