The phones of 11 U.S. Embassy employees in Uganda are said to have been hacked using spyware developed by an Israeli surveillance firm.

The hack is the first known case of the spyware, known as Pegasus, being used against American officials.
The United States blacklisted Israel’s NSO Group, the firm that developed Pegasus, a month ago, saying the technology has been used by foreign governments to repress dissent.
