MAny colleges are closed, the classrooms, over the Christmas season and students are certainly free to leave the campus and go wherever their little hearts desire.
My grandson for example has left his dorm and opted for my daughter's house and his bedroom there. More privacy, sleeping in a room with no roommate. Etc.
He is working at the local Chic-Fil-A 32 hours a week for $15.00/hour He worked there last year and did great and likes it. Everyone there really likes him as well. So he has an open ended part time job avaiable. That's kind of really nice for student.. So he can earns some extra money..
I know that a few campuses have kids still there who did not go home. The school lunch rooms/cafeterias are closed though. They know this.. But they live too far away or maybe they prefer to simply stay in their dorm.
Who knows why. But that is what I know locally..
