I take vitamin D each day and I know many of you do as well. It's one of the things that help bolster the immune system.

I've been taking 5,000 IUs per day for five years and in 2021 began taking a multivitamin too. The multivitamin has another 1000 IUs of vitamin D. It was my Virginia cardiologist who first turned me on to it. He'd given me a blood test that came back very low... I think around 10 ng/mL. 20 to 50 is considered sufficient.

I believe he said that vitamin D is one of those things that cannot easily be overdone. The body expels any excess. Whether he said that or not, it's incorrect. Excess vitamin D accumulates in the body. It is a fat-soluble vitamin, and fat-soluble vitamins are difficult for the body to expel. One of the more common problems associated with accumulated vitamin D is hypercalcemia, an excess of calcium in the blood.

Hypercalcemia is a condition in which the calcium level in your blood is above normal. Too much calcium in your blood can weaken your bones, create kidney stones, and interfere with how your heart and brain work.
I had a kidney stone for the first time in 2018, then another in 2019. At that point, I was put onto a drug called flomax and did not have any more. But I do wonder if I don't need flomax at all. I might just need to decrease my vitamin D intake since the recommended ceiling for most people is 4,000 IUs per day, not 6,000.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months
