Have you ever watched a movie that was SO bad that you half thought it must be a comedy?

This evening, my wife and I watched the new Netflix release "Don't Look Up" and I found myself thinking just that. The joke was on me as it turned out. Don't Look Up *is* a comedy. But not a very good one. I was halfway through it before it became clear that the bad acting, dumb dialog and predictable, weak plot were by design. At that point, I even enjoyed it a bit.

What a cast, though. Not just all the superstars you see on the left, but also Himesh Patel (Yesterday), Paul Guilfoyle (L.A. Confidential, CSI), Sarah Silverman (Wreck-It Ralph, Monk)... still others with lesser names but who you'd recognize upon sight. I began wondering how Netflix managed to assemble such a cast while writing and developing a thoroughly unimpressive movie. They did something right, though. I mean, *I* watched it. Maybe a lot of others will too. And that could have been the only goal, I suppose. Anyway, I'd give it 1.5 stars.
