It seems legit to me.

Dr. McCullough and Dr. Malone know each other well. They're friends. They're collaborators. Dr. McCullough had just been interviewed by Joe Rogan and said something that he later regretted. Since Dr. Malone was about to be interviewed by Joe Rogan before approximately the same audience, Dr. McCullough asked his colleague to mention his retraction of the earlier claim.

I can't think of a better way to correct an error made under those circumstances. Dr. McCullough must have felt the same way.

Now, if Dr. Malone wrongly attributed something to Dr. McCullough before a large audience and the attribution was untrue, I imagine that Dr. Malone would now have hell to pay. These doctors are both highly respected men. There's little chance either would lie about what the other had said.

No. I don't find it odd, suspicious, interesting or anything else but sensible.

DE,

I apologized in my post. If you cannot accept that apology then that is on you, not me. In my post there was zero provocation, only an honest request for clarification.

It is interesting (to me at least) that Dr. McCullough 'requested' Dr. Malone to correct him after his statements 18 days prior, is it not? One would 'think' that a person would make that 180 degree correction directly themselves in multiple forums so perhaps that is forthcoming since this was printed yesterday.

With that being said, thank you for the reply and the new information.
