wow. I am a piker. My home isn't worth anything more than maybe a quarter million assuming the sale of the house a few doors down and across the street are good bars...

My house is newer than both and been upgraded a few times. So I am content and happy.

Wow. He actually got a BSME degree and never used it? OMG. Had he been anmbitious enough to simply go to school part time a little longer he could have added his Masters to that and a MBA without much effort..

I know I am a little biased but Engineering has been the most fun career and prepatory thing I could have ever done for my manufacturing plants.. The first 8 years of working in an engineering department at one of the most well known manufacturing companies in Machine Tools helped get me off and running. I still apply a lot of what I learned in everything I do today including looking up STANDARDS on all kinds of things like wind tests for home windows..Or on cars. Pretty much anything .

I have never understood where this person was ever coming from either because we are taught to think LOGICALLY and factually. How does one become a flaming libtard and do that? I will never understand it I suppose.

I love reading famous quotes from Reagan. He was a personable down to earth great human being and greater President. He loved people. He loved This Country and it showed... Some of his famous one liners just tickle my funny bone.. which is why I posted three of them the other day..

Laughter is GREAT medicine for anyone, including laughing at one's own self. We all do or say bone headed things because we are human and have egos that sometimes get in the way.. Reading sayings from Reagan will quickly get met my mind off of me and just laughing again. Of course, reading Ribitisms is another thing that works well also..

Re: 'I've always said "OCU ain't too bright".'
I have enormous respect for engineers. However, OCU is an engineer who never practiced engineering. When he was employed, he was moved into teaching almost from the start. He spent his entire career teaching the use of one software product.

It's sad, really. He had this great degree but never utilized what he was taught.

Maybe there was a reason for that, eh? It could be that he barely made it through school, never really grasping what he was being taught. There are cases of that, just like there are law students who graduate but never pass the bar.

That's my working theory on OCU. He clearly isn't very smart. More importantly, he has little interest in learning or being corrected when he blunders. He doesn't operate even remotely like an actual engineer would.

BTW, regarding your statement "And, he wanted higher taxes on 'qualified dividends' and long term capital gains - never realizing that at his income level he should have been taking advantage of those lower rates." -- I don't know what OCU's income is/was. He got excited when his home value topped $1 million, which sort of suggested to me that it made up the bulk of his total worth. I'd guess that his income was unimpressive, but I'm not aware that he's ever commented on it. Some things I can find out, but IRS records have, so far, been beyond my reach.
