Those amongst us who have known me for a long time know I tend to invest in dividend paying stocks. And I'll occasionally brag about dividend increases.

And I was looking at the way my portfolio changed over the last week. My 401K - all in Vanguard and various types of mutual funds took a dump this week - down about 1.4%.

My non-401K - mostly in dividend paying stocks and a municipal bond fund - went up about 1.2%

Usually it seems when the 'markets' are going up my stuff slumps . . . But when the 'markets' go down my stuff creeps up. And I find I like it this way.
