I just realized that the legislation I described in my last post is in Biden's BBB, not Manchin's alternative. Rather than edit something that others have probably already read, I'm just going to correct myself here and note that Manchin's alternative isn't that much better. It includes funding for universal Pre-K and a new billionaire tax. As we all know, new taxes always start off small but quickly grow their rates and targeted people. The Federal Income Tax was sold to Americans as a tax on the rich. Didn't stay that way for long, did it?

Re: “...Manchin? ya think he could turn the dem party around as a presidential candidate? Would you consider voting for him. I dunno enough about him to take a guess at this point.”
It's more like Manchin could only be the Presidential nominee if the Democratic party turned around. But, fear not. That won't happen. By and large, most of the Democrats hate him and view him a traitor.

Could I, as a somewhat more reasonable person, vote for him? Not a chance. Remember that he opposed Biden's BBB but had his own $1.8 trillion alternative. It included a $3,600 per child stipend, more Affordable Care Act, more government housing and $555 billion to fight Climate Change. This is all un-American Bigger Government garbage.

It did occur to me that Manchin's opposition to Biden's plan may be an early step in running for President in 2024. He knows Biden won't be the nominee. Who is going to get more Democratic votes? The 25 dems who are all to the far left, or the one dem who is not quite so far left? My guess would be the one. The others are all going to divide up the extremist votes while the more moderate Dems are all going to vote for Manchin. Or maybe for Tulsi if she runs. I at least respect Tulsi's character. She's honest. Confused but honest.
