Nope. No animal valve for me. I went mechanical (picture shown). Should last a hundred years instead of 7 to 20 (average 12) like oldCADuser's. Just think: in 3 more years, OCU may need to have HIS valve replaced again. Me? Never.

As for why my surgery didn't hurt... well, it did hurt a little. But they gave me a bullet to bite on and told me to "man up," so I did.

I am amazed at that. Really. Wowser. And then the surgeon repaired your heart and put in a new valve from an animal to boot. Just thinking about it makes me shiver... I must be getting too old for these things.

I am very interested in how Ribit makes out because my right knee was going to be replaced until we discovered the hip was far more needful and immediate need so after the hip and therapy and stuff is done I have a right knee replacement to look forward to. not....
