There is no better place to spend winter in America than South Florida. Every time the sun comes up in the morning and all you need is a pair of shorts to go outside Nov thru March, you just can’t …..believe it. Even going to the dreaded Home Depot at night, for some stupid item, and coming out in the warm air, in shorts and flip flops, not having to scrape your frozen windshield, hear the cracking of ice under your feet, etc., you guys know that drill, it is a blessing. Mild temps, dry, breezes to cool you off, etc…. All you have to do is take care of the yard because stuff grows back in ….seconds.
The weather from Nov onward through May is unbeatable, pristine. With temperatures fluctuating in Dec through Feb, sometimes in the 40s at night, dry, occasional rain, giving you a break and variation which is crucial so it doesn’t become a same shit different day situation.
June can be perfect summer, and July too, although it starts getting in the 90s and humid, then Aug can be hot and very humid with frequent storms, especially in the afternoon, but the ocean is awesome for swimming, year round really, just warmer in August you just walk in and can stay there for hours. Then, it is time to get the fk out cause hurricanes are a real threat in Sept and Oct. mid Nov brings back the paradise.
My only real complaint down here is traffic lights, too many, too long, it drives me nuts. I miss the countryside where I could go into NYC in just over an hour in good traffic days, and I hit no traffic lights until I got into the city. You can’t beat that. But, I’ll eat the traffic lights, the shittiest drivers anywhere, and the traffic you can get into at afternoon rush hour around main highways and roads, because all the depressing shit up north weather and sunlight wise is a bad memory. It just affects your day from the get go, moment you open your eyes in the morning: the cold, cloudy or “white sunshine” day waiting ahead……The only time it gets really bright sunshine is when the temps hit 10 degrees day after ….snow
Nothing like having morning coffee in your outdoor patio in the middle of ….January.
I love upstate NY, the landscape especially, but from late Oct to even May it’s a weather bitch. Hard to separate but in the end ….good riddance. I’ll ……visit. Winter is much nicer in the west, CO, NM, northern AZ, there is snow, but a lot of great sunshine and milder temps, a variation that gives your soul a break. I can with that no questions asked.
