it was extremely wet / heavy snow that would have been hard to shovel by hand.

...make sure the mz boots and mittens are warmed up before ya send her out.

...ya might suggest to the mz that if she brings in some firewood when she gets thru shoveling the snow it will save her a trip later on.

Reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.

Snow started after midnight but was trivial. Now, 9:30 a.m., it's begun in earnest, but the heavy stuff is expected only from noon to 3 p.m. That's not very long and I'll be surprised if it amounts to more than 5 inches. Steady winds of 17 mph with gusts of 35 mph are predicted, but yesterday they were saying 19 and 40.

I'll still fill the bathtub and do the usual "we might lose power" things, but I don't think this storm is going to live up to the hype. Where I am, anyway. Your mileage may vary.

So far, despite the coldest temps I've experienced, this winter has been a big dud - just one storm that dropped as much as 6" and I only broke out the snow blower that time because it was extremely wet / heavy snow that would have been hard to shovel by hand.
