well De,
in all honesty, from the photos I have seen, and one day hope to see in person, I would say the contractor was impressed by the sheer beauty as he should be, and the wonderful work on the property and the homestead and barn you have had built. Its a dream escape and home for a pluarilty of most people. Ya done good and should unashemedly be proud of what you guys have accomplished.

Great job youngun.. (relatively speaking). More ancient folks reside onthis board so I was just trying to make them comfortable.. Laughing Laughing Laughing

I drove to the new land today to meet with the propane company and get a quote. One of the owners arrived and absolutely raved about the land. Several times he either called it beautiful or said "You can't find properties like this anymore!" That made me feel good, both for the obvious compliment and also because I'm spending a disturbing amount of money to get the house built. I'd like to think that when it's done, the house + barn + land will at least be worth what I've spent.

Not that it really matters since I never plan to sell it. But still...

He asked when I'd bought it and how long it had been on the market. He said he was shocked one of the neighbors hadn't snapped it up - and he made that statement without ever asking me what I'd paid! (I wouldn't have told him. Some things, including prices, aren't other people's business imo, even though it might be a matter of public record.) I got the impression that he wondered whether other similar lots might be available in that small town. They aren't... not that I've seen anyway.
