Green Turtle Cay, Hope Town and Marsh Harbour were destroyed by the hurricane.

Green Turtle is about 75% back.
Hope Town about 95% back
and Marsh Harbour about 55%.

I asked the dock master at Green Turtle why were they were doing so much better rebuilding than Marsh Harbor. He said Marsh Harbour relied on the Bahamian government to rebuild.
And that Green Turtle relied on themselves to rebuild.

At Hope Town a local told me they were far ahead of Marsh because Marsh used money from the government and that money was wasted on useless crap. And that much of the cash was stolen by bureaucrats. He said that Hope Town used local and US investors money to rebuild.

Decades ago Spanish Well was hit by a hurricane that wiped out their power system. The power grid is owned and run by the Bahamian government. The government told Spanish Wells it would be 6 months to repair. So the locals took over the system and repaired it themselves. The locals have been running it since then. Separate from the nationwide government system..Other providences in the Bahamas are now asking Spanish Wells to help them get off the government system.

All over the Bahamas we meet locals who are positive on local government and negative on the central government. Also see a lot of Trump hats and flags. They seem to love him here.
