Sir wizard,
I truly enjoyed your reasoned reply to the topic's question
and in part agree with your very good response.

In the BIG PICTURE, yes, GOD was incontrol of all the events recorded in scripture then as well as today and whatever tomorrow may bring because HE determines the future of every person on every day that HE by his power brings to pass.

But you know all that.

The simple truth is that GOD would not have found another David. David was chosen specifically by GOD because GOD KNEW David's HEART'S Desire to please and serve GOD and had chosen David to be KING over HIS people, the Jews.

Nobody else living had a heart like David's and since
prophecy could not be changed it could not and was not going to happen..

While it is an interetsing question in human terms and thought, remember that GOD's THOUGHTS are on a much higher level than ours are and also that HE is already in tomorrow waiting for us to join Him there according to HIS perfect plans and will.

Sorry for the discourse and please do not take my writing as anything other than a simple explanation of why it would not be possible for that scenario to happen and Ribit knew that anyway..
