Why don't we just require all government meetings an work to be done by zoom -- and don't pay anybody more than minimum wage?

I mean,

(1) NOBODY should be going to work as a "public servant" in order to make money, but only because they honestly want to perform a civic duty.
(2) Find some other perquisite way to reward people who do a good job of serving for a limited period. Maybe give them toll free travel on the highway system and life passes to national parks? I'm sure we can come up with a list of other ways to recognize service which won't really cost very much.
(3) Pass a law for capital punishment for anyone who bribes or accepts a bribe involving any "public servant". Give everyone an opportunity to commute their sentence by successfully incriminating someone else for bribery.

A little common sense and a sharp guillotine could go a long, long, long, long way. ;-/. The problem isn't that hard to solve; it mostly requires clarity and NON diversity in philosophical/cultural priorities. People who don't want to live in a country with rule by law ought not to be denied; buy them a one way ticket out or put them in jail with hard labor.

I have come to realize that men are not born to be free. Liberty is a need felt by a small class of people whom nature has endowed with nobler minds than the mass of men. -Napoleon

A possible solution would be to pay each member of Congress 100% of the average income of his constituents plus free rent in a Congressional apartment building. Even here, though, we'd have to be careful that the apartments not get turned into miniature mansions by the ever-scheming members of Congress.

Let’s agree to a DC housing allowance to be determined statistically. They should be able to afford a one bedroom apartment with a minimum of amenities.
