...if it appears that putin is losing to what barack obama would refer to as the Junior Varsity (remember isis?) I believe he will use Nukes as well.

Somebody or bodies in Russia would then go after him. One way or another, the man would end up dead. He knows that. He therefore cannot afford to be seen as weak.

While I don't pretend to know what's going to happen, I can tell you what won't happen. Putin won't back down before western forces. And if he's losing a conventional war, he'll employ nukes. About the only way around that would be if somebody assassinates Putin.
