Good morning De! AWESOME!

We thought our little guy was going to be around 40 pounds but he now is 62 pounds full grown and 3 years old.

The difference between our residence and yours are two fold:

1. Size of interior.
2. Acreage to run..

You have the perfect setup to have a dog that likes to run and explore and get exercise.

This is our first male dog after two really affectionate females that we dearly miss but Charlie is really quite affectionate as well.

He is a mix of dominate Red Heeler with some yellow lab facial feature, Boxer legs and German shepherd long haired tail..

I hope you guys enjoy the new family member immensely. They do fill a void in our hearts and lives and I am grateful to have ours.. He is ALWAYS happy to see me..

Yours will be the same... Best of luck to you both!
micro..

My wife found puppies for sale at a local animal shelter and we've got dibs on a 9-week-old. His mom was a stray in Arkansas and was brought here due to higher demand. We'll see him Wednesday and make a decision.

My wife already has her heart set on him. Puppies are always cute so I don't think meeting him will change her vote. We have to agree though, and I'm a harder sell. What will kill the deal with me is if the little guy has medical problems or looks like he's going to be a bruiser. We want a house dog, preferably a mid-sized one. Under 40 pounds would be nice. I'd rather not get a horse right now... though it's not a deal breaker since a "guard dog" is something we'll eventually want.

The mother looks a lot like Kermit, our last dog, but not as husky. That assessment is based on a single photo I saw showing the mother and her pups. It wasn't a very good photo. We know nothing about the father. The puppy we've chosen does not resemble his mom. He's light - which I prefer - either white or brown, and spotted. He doesn't look like his siblings either, being the standout, appearance-wise. Hopefully he's friendly, outgoing and intelligent.

As a rule, puppies grow into their feet. Those with big feet tend to be big dogs. Didn't your dog wind up being bigger than you expected, micro? How has that worked out for you?

In general, dog litters range from 1-12 pups with 5-6 being the norm. Bigger dogs tend to have more puppies. 8 puppies is significant suggesting pretty good-sized dogs. But I don't know. Maybe she hooked up with a Chihuahua! My fingers are crossed.
