I like the ocean, and perfect winters that are not. Ziilions of restaurants, hangouts, and a surprising number of non assholes to talk to, including Europeans with a sensible mind.
N Mexico is a pretty ugly state. Been there done that. Santa Fe is nice, but nothing outside of it other than low desert. Albuquerque, similar landscape, lots of crime.
Nice towns don’t make for life there, unless there is stuff around them, like in the Hudson Valley. You’d get bored real fast. Like Grand Junction, CO., etc. nice town, get bored fast.
I’ve searched much of the west, because I love rocks, views, and adventure. Two places from all those states can do it, Colorado Springs and Fort Collins. Plan to spend some time there perhaps this summer, look for a cabin to own, close to town, and live among intelligent, educated crowd during some summer months, and perhaps take trips in winter, go to Utah see the desert in winter.
NY, is pretty for sure, but that food got cold, and seeing cops stalking people in highways pisses me off, among other things.
