...the army has forts, the Marines have camps. That is because the army is there to defend something against something that has become a problem and the Marines are patiently waiting to chase something down and kill it. In the words of a great Marine, Sgt Hollerin Holleran, "If I am in a hurry to get somewhere I don't want to be waiting on tanks and field artillery."
...as far as discussing it with "other pentagon officers" Marines have been doing what they couldn't do and what they said couldn't be done for a couple hundred years now. This may just make em faster. Ya never know.
