Indeed. Sensible advice. As you can see, I've been backing up routinely - every time I put in a few hours that didn't go horribly awry. Computer work does not lend itself to the careless! Backups are important. Additionally, the database is TINY. Even though it has some 1,100 entries... most of which include a paragraph or so of descriptive text... it's still only 5.6 megabytes and growing very slowly. Making and keeping numerous backups takes almost no resources. And, wow, could having them ever be a lifesaver.

In addition to these backups, I have a smaller set on a thumb drive. Just in case the hard drive gets "munged," as you put it. (A bit of trivia: the word "mung" is an acronym for "Mung until no good." It's recursive - which is a computer term for code that calls itself, potentially putting itself into an infinite loop unless the programmer has cleverly designed an "out" for it. I love writing recursive programs. They eat a lot of memory, but these days memory is cheap and abundant.)

I hope your trip went well. Pleasant? Productive? Lucrative?

That was a pretty good feat you pulled off De.

Hopefully you have that access database stored or saved in multiple places on different storage discs as well as hard drive. This way you will be able to always keep it even if your hard drive gets "munged" at some point.

I back up everything that is data on flash drives AND a backup hard drive. All I would ever have to do is wipe my hard drive on the main computer and copy the entire software back onto it from the back up drive.. It helps one sleep better.... lol!!!!

You likely know these things and maybe have already had more than one copy of your new database on different storage devices but thought a little reminder never hurt anyone..

On my way to the west today.. Driving about 4 hours or so to Evansville and eventually on to St. Louis.

Will catch up with y'all later!
