" Most of the Nitrous oxide and other distillates CAN be burned all the way down to C02+H20. "
>>>
What is nitrous oxide?
>>>
Nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, nitrous, or nos, is a chemical compound, an oxide of nitrogen with the formula N2O. At room temperature, it is a colourless non-flammable gas, and has a slightly sweet scent and taste. At elevated temperatures, nitrous oxide is a powerful oxidiser similar to molecular oxygen.

Please note that Nitrogen is not listed amongst the 'CO2+H20'. Along with other elements in the ash.

" I am probably not at all off the mark when I say something like diesel can't sustainably be produced for less than $1000/gal, even given "free" CO2 and H20 as starting materials "
>>>
Nobody in their right mind is going to try to make diesel fuel from CO2 and H2O. However, it is possible to turn grass clippings, leaves, - any organic material including human sewage - into methane via 'digesters' and methane can be converted into diesel fuel. Most assuredly at less than $1,0000 a gallon.
Put ones house 'six feet underground' ? There are places where a radioactive gas called radon accumulates in cellars.
>>>
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that can cause lung cancer.

So, if one puts all the houses six feet underground then some houses are going to accumulate radon gas and some people will get lung cancer . . .
I'm confident that there are more energy efficient ways to heat and cool houses than by burning 'stuff'. (Heat pumps come to mind - though heat pumps do not give me that warm toasty feeling that a gas furnace does.)
