I apologize, guys, for being sloppy on the writing and the research.
My basic points are we could do VASTLY better, including doing vastly better economically, if we thought
(1) LONG term stuctures and
(2) Oil is NOT energetically free, IS already mostly used up, and it has no half-decent substitute.
In about 100 years we have burned 1 billion years worth of "free" oil, just about all that is energetically worth mining, as we have increased human population 8 fold and built a civilization near totally dependent on endless free oil.
Something in this equation is not real bright. We'd better not be wrong -- since we'd better not be wrong, we better NOT check the realities, because if we are wrong we have *NO* plan B...and that might frighten the sheeple.
