As in accept what some panic porn fearmonger shrieks as 'gospel truth'?

I don't think so. Check the realities.

Reality 1. Fracking is enabling these United States to extract oil from places formerly considered un-extractable.

Reality 2. Up in Canada they have a means for extracting oil from 'tar sands'.

In short, there is still a LOT of oil out there that can be extracted.

Point 3. There are certain kinds of algae that can be grown and processed to extract oil. Expensive oil, but oil.

Point 4. There are a number of plants and nuts which can be 'pressed' to extract oil - many of which can be burnt in diesel engines. Some of those oils can be bought in the supermarket for around $10 a gallon.

I apologize, guys, for being sloppy on the writing and the research.

My basic points are we could do VASTLY better, including doing vastly better economically, if we thought
(1) LONG term stuctures and
(2) Oil is NOT energetically free, IS already mostly used up, and it has no half-decent substitute.

In about 100 years we have burned 1 billion years worth of "free" oil, just about all that is energetically worth mining, as we have increased human population 8 fold and built a civilization near totally dependent on endless free oil.

Something in this equation is not real bright. We'd better not be wrong -- since we'd better not be wrong, we better NOT check the realities, because if we are wrong we have *NO* plan B...and that might frighten the sheeple.
