Pete Williams to retire this summer
After an impressive career and nearly three decades at NBC News, Pete Williams will retire. The Washington-based reporter's retirement was announced Thursday morning by NBC News president Noah Oppenheim. "For the last 29 years, Pete Williams has set the bar for all of us. He is quite simply one of the most respected, trusted, and steadfast names in news," Oppenheim wrote staffers in a memo. "And, so, today it is with decidedly mixed emotions that I share with you his plans to sign off from NBC News for the final time later this summer." Oppenheim spoke with WaPo's Jeremy Barr, telling him "there is no way we can ever fill Pete’s shoes."
