Hi Micro! I completely agree, especially with the idea that FORCE doesn't work very well. If we learned anything from 100 years of experimenting on rats it is that punishment doesn't extinguish behavior. Punishment only temporarily suppresses and tends to push behavior underground.

If there were no option to force, and the social need were desperate enough (say a virus with a 30% lethality for young people), maybe some temporary restraint could be justified. But this isn't that. We've had 50 years, since 1970s oil crisis, to come up with incentives. But NOTHING has been done. Nothing like 50% off property tax for houses with southern trombe walls and 50% lower heating/cooling costs. Nothing.

So I hear you. BTW, I am not holding myself out as an examplar of "green", although I do now have a well, tons of solar panels, lots of food trees, a green house, no lawn to water, etc. But peak oil issue concerns me mostly because the more critically I look and think about it, the more intractible and obvious the problem becomes. **IF** peak oil isn't already here by simple physics, it WILL be here soon enough. Oil wells don't replenish in less than a billion years or so, and we DON'T have any substitute for hydrocarbons for most things in most locations.

WRT your idea for a car solely electric powered with a fuel generator on-board to keep the batteries topped off, I thought that's what the Chevy Volt was (https://hybridautopart.com/blog-en/chevy-volt/)??

Regardless, wouldn't you know they DISCONTINUED the Volt after 2019 model year, curiously *just* in time for the Great Reset to begin. I don't believe in coincidences. But I don't have a sufficient explanation for why such a common-sense approach wasn't acceptable to Our Masters. The Volt *was* a dramatic step in the direction Our Masters wanted to nudge us and it had proven and desirable technology. You could drive locally on 100% battery power and I believe it had a plug if you had solar panels.

Hi Fizzy

well spoken and reasoned.

Don't totally disagree with you.
Generators from WIND like a windmill in yer backyard, or from streams can also create power. I am not a fan of those oversized windmill farms because they are an eyesore..And they really do not produce much electric for every eyesore either.
Solar panels have the problem that non bright sunny days produce almost Nothing..

I use a high 18 seer Heat Punp at my home for the heating and cooling. It works well. Keeps my energy consumption down as well as my utility bills.

Now here is a thought.. How about an electric vehicle that produces its own sustaining source of electric by using an onboard generator/alternator just like we have some pretty powerful amperage.. ???? That would make a battery car self sustaining..

Right now what is NOT being talked about is HOW are we going to provide all the extra electric to power all these electric cars when we do not have the electric needed currently to prevent all those blackouts and brownouts every single year????

I guess I don't like being forced to do something against my will especially when I have a perfectly good, still brand new looking 7 year old vehicle that averages about 30 MPG and is gasoline..

THIS whole thing going on now is nothing more than POLITICAL in nature because it is not a choice, they are trying to FORCE peopole this way because of SIERRA CLUB like mentality.

Forcing people to do something against their will is never a good thing and that is the pther reason why there is so much resistance... It is synonomous with leftist ideology...

Anyway, why don't the geniuses who design these electric vehicles also build into them a self charging system ?

I had the idea some years ago about pace makers that instead of having to remove one when the batteries got weak and then install a whole new one, why don;t they make them so they can be recharged and not have to go thru a surgery to replace it?

I talked to the heart doctor about it.. I understand that today they are available that one doesn;t have to have the whole unit removed and replaced.. Progress.

Anyway, that's is my five cents on where we are with save the planet cars.. Make the batteries stay charged while driving and ya might have something there...
Thumbs Up Very Happy Very Happy
