agreed. But I was only illustrating what an alternator does in a gasoline engine, which is provide electric current back into the battery so it stays charged.. This way ya don;t get that uh-oh moment when ya try to start yer vehicle and nothing happens cuz yer battery is dead..


So I guess I am wondering why could not an alternator that could produce DC volts be incorporated into the vehicle?

It could be self sustaining at that point....

BTW, I loved the fuel economy De showed..

...if ya burn gasoline to charge a electric motor it will take more energy than the vehicle would use just using a gasoline motor to start with. In every energy conversion there is a loss. The laws of thermodynamics apply here unless maxine waters had repealed em already.
