As Memorial Day approaches , it's not enough to simply remember the brave men and women who willingly laid down their lives in an effort to preserve our way of life, our country as bad and sometimes good it is.

They did not do it for gain or because they wanted to be a hero.. They willingly fought for us to preserve our nation and not be speaking German or Japanese or Russian or Chinese. They put their lives on the line knowingly and willingly so many would not have to..

My friend Vince and I had lunch together this week for several hours. A reunion of sorts.. I have known him 35 years.. We have been good friends for that long long before he ever got interested in being a top 5 financial advisor in the state of Ohio.. He was a group health insurance agent..

He told me he was going to do this. And he did.
I am almost speechless at this time as this is a hard weekend for me.. Too many close brothers are on that wall. Too many memories are flooding back and this thing in Texas just brought most of it back memory.

My friends gave their lives. Some were cut in half. Mangled with their intestines hanging out and on the ground. Arms and legs blown off. Half their head missing.

And I helped to drag what was left of them off the field and into a body bag..

This is an ungrateful, unthankful, unholy generation that is coming up.. Not all but far too many.

They take for granted all the things they can do today..

I want to ask them if we lost WW2 or allowed Communist China to overrun South Korea with the North Koreans what would the U.S. look like? Would we have been invaded if Germany did not get stopped in WW2 or would the Chinese been emboldened as they seem to be today? Now we have the Russians acting badly..

Things I ponder.. I reflect on people who sacrificed eveyrhing so that American citizens can have what they do today.. Same is tru for police officers who run to the gun fire and protect the civilians as best they can. Firemen who battle fires trying to save lives and sometimes losing their own, willingly..

I watched my granddaughter walk up on stage and get her High School diploma last night. She grew up to be a beautiful young lady and was named the League Slugger of the Year, Best catcher in the city, Best slugging percentage of all batters in girls softball, and is a member of The Honor Society and graduated Cum Laude.

She will be off to a Cristaian UNiversity an hour from home this summer and has the top scholarship from them to play there. She is already the starting catcher for them and will rest at Third base in between...

When I see kids like her, or her brother who is a year older and a football player, I am reminded that they were worth it.. There is some small glimmer of hope for this country..

I apologize for the rambling. Pray for our uniformed military peopple and civilian counterparts that while they serve to keep us safe, God will protect them!

May God bless our men and women in uniform I pray in the name of Jesus, amen!
