Ya know, usually what the 'high and mighty' call this is 'coding'. And I've always had the impression that 'coding' is little more than 'data entry'. As in the 'coders' learn how to use a program and input data into a computer (system).

'Program' or, more specifically, 'Programming' is a LOT harder job. A computer programmer has to know not only the mechanics of actually writing, compiling, and running a program . . . the programmer also has to know the subject about which the program must run.

Think like this. If one is going to write an accounting package . . . one must know both the computer programming language, as well as accounting and the mathematics that go with it.

Their thinking, I believe, is that the excess population should just move into Death Valley and learn to live off the land. It ranks in their with Joe's suggestion that all of life's losers should just learn how to program and then have a good income. (Speaking of which, I wonder how clo's programming skills are coming along.)
