We heard this morning from Joy Behar that “once black people get guns in this country, the gun laws will change. Trust me.” As a matter of fact, gun sales spiked in the black community over the past couple of years, what with a summer of rioting and arson followed by a lockdown. If there’s one place where everyone is equal in this country, it’s at the gun range. People share the same interests, and they’re incredibly polite to each other.
A lot of people replying to Behar linked to this video. We wish we had more context, but the Instagram account from which it was taken has been pulled down. Still, we’re told this is at Calliope and Annunciation streets in New Orleans, though a lot of people say the accents are off, and it looks like people of color in this country do have guns. We suppose these were all purchased legally in Indiana and sold on the streets in Louisiana.
Fix New Orleans (@FixNOLA) ~ No shortage of guns at Calliope & Annunciation.

Is this some outdoor gun show we weren’t told about? Remember just last week when CBS News’ Robert Costa made his way into the NRA annual meeting in Houston and found photographic proof that there were guns on the premises?
Robert Costa (@costareports) ~ Inside the NRA convention in Houston, days after a mass shooting of children a few hundred miles away. @CBSNews
Let’s get Costa down to New Orleans to this NRA convention to interview a few gun owners about why they feel the need to compensate for small penises.
Fix New Orleans (@FixNOLA) ~ This is just blocks away from the Convention Center @NewOrleansENMCC, downtown New Orleans @dddneworleans, the cruise ship dock, @RiverwalkNOLA, and @MagazineStreet shopping.
ajac.4545 (@ajac_4545) ~ This was 2 blocks from the cruise terminal and convention center. A cruise departed at 3:30 just shortly before this. Imagine being a tourist and seeing this. The New Orleans economy is based on tourist income. Something has to be done.
Papa schlags (@schlagdaddy) ~ Have an eight month old daughter and we live like 6 blocks from here. I love the city but the thought of being in the wrong place at the wrong time gets stronger every day.
Mike (@mrjc1) ~ I believe that constitutes brandishing a weapon in public.
GardenGuru (@lfastenberg) ~ I’m sure they followed all the laws to procure.
Well, of course they did! They wouldn't dare NOT follow the gun laws laid down by their plantation masters ... WOULD THEY?!
Two bricks short (@didthat1x) ~ Any bets the sear pin has been modified with that extra long mag?
Pelican state of mind (@Parisire) ~ Waving weapons around like that just speaks to the serious problem in our culture. Responsible owners of guns learned from a young age to never behave like that.
Their trigger discipline isn’t as bad as Hunter Biden’s.
Heh heh heh heh heh - true.
ebony + ivory (@irishman3370) ~ So these instances of men stopping traffic to wave their guns around us is very rare and unusual, especially for that area. The image isn’t shocking to me, as I’ve seen hundreds like it. But the chance of harm to your family and life is extremely low.
Pre-crime High Inquisitor (@Soyz_N_the_Hood) ~ Fear not. All these responsible gun owners will be turning in their weapons once the gun ban hits.
Or the government implements that three-month, $5,000-a-gun buyback, no questions asked.
