Hmmmm . . .
From the low, of say, $30 to the current say $90 looks to me like a 300% gain.

$30 to the $120 peak would have been a 400% gain.

And that assumes one had bought at the bottom and sold at the top. Hard to do.

And the 17% gain over 30 years . . . Did you factor the dividend checks into that gain? Remember, that for me the dividend is a key part of my 'ROI'.

I started buying COP back in 2003. Multiple purchases over the years, plus the re-invested dividends.

Cop is worth, as of Friday afternoon, 90% more than I paid for it.

Factor in the dividends and my total yield is 129%.

Good or Bad?

Zim.

Re: “Comments?”
Before commenting, we have to know what's happened to the price of the stock. After all, a company can have a 100% ROI... but if that's accompanied by a stock drop of 100% in the first year, then it's not such a great deal.

In the case of COP, the stock price story is even more interesting than the dividend increases.

From 2003 to 2020, COP scarcely moved. Okay, 30 percent, but that's a 30 percent gain in SEVENTEEN YEARS. I wouldn't be pleased.

But since its bottom in March, 2020, holy smokes. Up almost 400 percent? Am I reading that right?? Nice going, Zim! I'm happy for you.
