As I just pointed out to De, I would have had to buy and sell at the right time . . . I'm more of a buy-and-hold type of dude.

And, no, I am not going to start a 'hedge fund'. (I don't like stealing other peoples money . . . and I do NOT want to be responsible for other peoples money.)

I do have my own personal 'mutual fund'. I call it 'MadMutt'. I like to think I'm doing OK with my investing. Nothing flashy, but it produces a regular income. (And, no, I do not accept 'outside investors' into my fund. Just Me, Myself, and I.)

McCormick Spices (MKC) is a star in my portfolio. I started buying it in 2007. At one point it was worth almost four times what I paid for it . . At the moment it is worth over three times what I paid for it. My spreadsheet says my MKC is worth 238% over what I paid for it. Include the dividend checks (I spent) and I get 280%.

By the way, my spreadsheet calculates (D47-B47)/B47 -
Meaning current price minus cost basis divided by cost basis.

The 'yield plus dividend' ((D46 + F47)-B47) / B47.
Add the dividend to the current value, subtract the cost basis then divide by the cost basis.

Zim.
