Thanks, I think I get it now. We are charged with evicting, jailing, bankrupting, or - if necessary - executing rabid people. But we need to do it with good-will and, ideally, love...or, at least, pity.
I have had that responsibility a few times in life. You don't need to hate the rattlesnake when you cut off its head; but you do need to cut off its head.
Oh, don't get me wrong ... I don't believe GOD wants us to roll over and play dead when attacked. It is quite proper to fight back and defend yourself, your family, and your neighbors against aggression. It is also quite proper to work within the legal system to fight against corruption. However, I do not believe GOD would have us dehumanize those who oppose us ... even if they are mean and hurtful towards us on a personal basis ... because HE knows we could very easily end up dehumanizing and hurting ourselves in the process of seeking revenge.
In short, I believe HE would have us love our enemies and show them kindness, but that does not mean we have to love, condone, or abide their wrongful behavior.
